Infertility - Fertilization Techniques
In the procedure called In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), a woman’s egg is removed surgically from one of her ovaries and fertilized in a glass dish (”test tube”). This fertilized egg is later placed back in her uterus. This method was originally designed for women who have an obstruction of both fallopian tubes but have at least one normally functioning and surgically accessible ovary or in some other situations that cannot be corrected.
